A number of facilities involved in the Green Healthcare Programme were recognised for their waste prevention work in 2014.

In November, St. Michael’s Hospital, Dun Laoighaire won a Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Chamber EnviroCom Award for their Waste Prevention project. The project looked at reducing food waste, while ensuring maximum food consumption, and increasing recycling.

Cork University Hospital were awarded the world’s first Green Flag Hospital award. The award acknowledges CUH’s work in reducing it’s carbon footprint, preventing waste and increasing recycling, all while maintaining the hospital’s high standards. The flag raising is due to take place in early 2015.

Congrats to all the staff involved in both hospitals.
