The Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australia’s largest teaching hospital, has acute-care beds for 650 patients and employs 4,100 full time and casual staff. The hospital has become a model for green programming in hospitals across South Australia after showing that sustainability is an achievable goal in even the most challenging work environments.

This case study outlines the large scale environmental programme taken by the hospital, to dramatically cut the amount of general and organic waste it sends to landfill.
